In this field test a cluster of micro-CHP units are operated as a virtual power plant,
demonstrating their ability to contribute to a common control goal. The experiment uses
15 domestic heating systems at consumer premises.
The virtual power plant can provide value though electricity trading or local-grid-operation support. The emphasis in the field test will
be on grid-support services, although the trading purposes will be investigated in additional simulation studies.
The project has been started end September 2005 and from February 2006 the power plant is expected to start life operation.
The 15 micro-CHPs are equipped with a specialised controller, which includes a communications module for data and control signals
exchange with a central server.
